The old Mid City Centre, launched in 1989, had around 50 specialty stores over three levels. These included Rebel Sport and HMV as well as electronics retailer Dick Smith and chemist Priceline. The centre's main entrance was on the Pitt Street Mall and this provided easy access to other centres on the pedestrian mall including Westfield Centrepoint, Imperial Arcade, Skygarden, Glasshouse, Sydney Central Plaza and the Strand Arcade. It was demolished in November 2007 to make way for a new multimillion-dollar office and retail development.
